Raina Sengupta- A Life in the Day.

Raina Sengupta

Raina Sengupta is a Business Support Associate at Laurence Simons.

As a Business Support Associate, Raina plays a crucial role in supporting our Consultants and Talent Acquisition and Delivery teams with searches across the EMEA.

Raina also works closely with our finance department, and is also on our Culture Implementation Team.

What is your daily morning routine?

If I’m heading in to the office, I generally wake up early and like to get ready for the day and have breakfast with my playlist going so I can start the day with positive energy! I like listening to audiobooks or podcasts and catching up with the news while I’m on the train. But, if I’m working from home, I like to get a morning workout in as well.

How did you come to be a Business Support Associate at Laurence Simons?

I was looking for a graduate role after I completed my law degree and came across an ad for the job online – LS’s culture and values strongly resonated with me, and I really enjoyed my interviews with Samantha Knowles and Victoria Jackson.

What does your role encompass?

I support Angela Floydd (Executive Director) and Laurent Pompanon (Principal Consultant), and members of the Talent Acquisition & Delivery team on international searches primarily within the EMEA region, along with supporting the finance department – so I have a dynamic and varied dual role! I’m also on the Culture Implementation Team and a member of our CRM Working Group which has given me good insight into the operations of the business.

What projects are you currently working on?

It’s an exciting time to be at Laurence Simons; Septembers are often very busy! At present, many of the searches I have been working on are approaching the offer stage.

Who do you work most closely with?

I work very closely with our Geneva-based Executive Director, Angela Floydd, and our Paris-based Principal Consultant, Laurent Pompanon. In my role as Business Support Associate, I also work directly with our Talent Acquisition and Delivery Associate, Henry Thompson, our London-based Senior Associate, Kirsten Hendry and our Accountant, Ruth Kieran.

What do you enjoy about your work?

On the finance side of things, I love approaching problem solving with a solution-focused and structured approach and on the executive search side of things, I enjoy being involved with searches for pharmaceutical/life sciences companies and it’s especially gratifying when we “match-make” clients with the perfect candidate! It’s also interesting to learn about the different therapies and treatments they have developed and how technology has impacted their transformation journeys.

How do you socialise with the team?

Team socials are always lots of fun, I especially enjoyed the escape room social! We often have dinners and opportunities to get together as a business, which is a great opportunity to catch-up with everyone.

How do you spend time out of work, and what are your main hobbies and passions?

I enjoy Pilates and various creative hobbies such as writing, playing the piano and baking.

What are you currently looking forward to?

I’m planning to go to India at some point over the next few months to visit my extended family.

Can you tell us a little more about the city you live in?

London is a vibrant and cosmopolitan city, and a haven for foodies! There’s something for everyone and even when I visit new places, I’ll always be a London girl at heart.

What are your favourite places in the city?

Too many to choose from but to name a few: Covent Garden, Chinatown, Wimbledon and Richmond.

Do you have any recommendations?

Try the brown sugar bubble tea at Xing Fu Tang, it’s amazing and they also have a mango smoothie drink with an adorable pannacotta rabbit topping which is also really good!
