My alarm is set for 5:45am – I quickly jump out of bed, grab a coffee and a bowl of cereal, jump on the bus and head to the gym. In the past year, I’ve really started to prioritise my health; as you know, you only have one body. I am moving more and feeding myself with the right nutrition, and it really does kick-start your day in the best way!
When I first started working with Laurence Simons (LS), I was living and working in London. Since then, I have returned to my Northern roots and have moved back to my hometown in Yorkshire. I dial in from my home office, meaning I can look out of my window and see green hills for miles! I travel in to our London office once or twice a month, so I get the best of both worlds and it’s so nice when I finally get to see our team. Our London office is close to St Paul’s, which is a such a fab, lively and vibrant area to catch-up with everyone.
Prior to starting at LS, I was working as a Paralegal/PA at an international IP Law Firm headquartered in central London. It was an amazing role, but I wanted a change and to challenge myself with an EA role. When I saw the role advertised at LS and later learnt about Clare’s background in IP, I knew the role was for me.
My role at LS is to support Clare in her daily function as CEO, including business operations, administration and a variety of other business-related tasks. However, my role is extremely varied, and as EA, it means that I often get a hand at a variety of tasks across the business, including co-leading on our office move to 73 Watling Street and planning our European team off-site. I am also studying my company secretarial qualifications to act as our quasi “company secretary” and attend all of our quarterly Management Board Meetings.
I work most closely with our amazing CEO, Clare Beresford. However, the variety in my role means that I get to speak to most of the team daily, which is lovely given I work remotely.
I love the variety in my role and getting a glimpse into work from across the business. It has allowed me to get insight into what each role entails and has allowed for a better understanding of the business and how it functions.
I meet up with the team twice a month when I visit our London office. Otherwise, I speak daily with the team on video calls or quick messages to check-in. Here’s a pic of us getting some e-scooters on one of our recent socials to and from the bars!
The Piece Hall – this is an amazingly beautiful courtyard that feels like you have just stepped into a European city. There are tons of nice restaurants, and bars and it often hosts huge artists when on test tours, we’ve seen Tom Grennan, Paul Weller, Noel Gallagher, Duran Duran and Nile Rodgers! My other favourite place in the town is Hebden Bridge village. It’s a super cute village with many nice cafes, cake houses and of course local countryside pubs with open fires.
